Introduction

CAPS and SSR markers were developed in the Laboratory of Cris Kuhlemeier for mapping of interspecific crosses. Currently xx CAPS markers and xx SSR markers cover the 7 chromosomes of petunia.

This marker collection is a work in progress. Users of this page are encouraged to contribute new data (gels, sequences) for the markers presented on this page (see contributions).

Sequence information on these pages is mostly from single reads and not verified. They are meant as help to produce new CAPS.

Interspecific crosses produce maps that differ substantially for the same markers and several markers can be mapped only on some crosses. The map information given is therefore an approximation.
We used a set of accessions for the mapping and trait analyses. However, these lines are no guarantee that similar bands will be produced in related accessions, i.e. not all P. axillaris have the same polymorphisms compared to P. integrifolia.
